The Church of the Holy Cross is a parish in union with the Diocese of South Carolina under the Episcopal leadership of The Rt. Rev. Mark J. Lawrence. We are part of the global Anglican Communion, (ca 80 million) the third largest Christian communion in the world after the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. While both Catholic and Reformed, Anglicanism represents an orthodox theology, grounded in Holy Scripture and tradition. We hold to the clear teaching of the Christian faith as it has been handed down through the centuries while seeking to proclaim that faith with relevance and life application for the twenty-first century.

It is a pleasure and a delight to serve this pastoral size parish only seven miles west of Sumter and just two miles west of Shaw Air Force Base.  Additionally we are just twenty-five miles east of Columbia via Hwy 76/378. Our approach to ministry is Eucharistic centered, relationship oriented, and focused on responding toward God’s grace, mercy and love. This makes us unusual in the current climate of our culture and the modern attitudes towards worship. Our service is traditional and reverent, but not stuffy; and we take the Great Commission of making disciples and Christian Service seriously. We also believe it is important to instruct and equip both youth and adults with the tools necessary to build a solid Christian worldview. It is important to pastor and nourish all parishioners to build a healthy and vibrant community that welcomes all people.  – Fr. Michael E. Ridgill, CfSB, SSC

I was glad when they said unto me, “We will go into the house of the Lord.”

The rich choral and instrumental patrimony of Anglicanism initially drew me to this way of worship when I was 18 years old in North Carolina. I find the beauty of the Church of the Holy Cross unsurpassed among the churches in which I have been organist and am honored to provide music in the Anglican tradition for this historic parish.
